What we do
From a single ingrown toenail to long-standing heel pain: accurate diagnosis, a clear plan and HCPC-registered treatment across our two London clinics.
Start with an honest answer.
A thorough first appointment with an HCPC-registered podiatrist: full history, vascular and skin-and-nail screen. You leave with a clear diagnosis and a plan you understand.
A permanent fix, done right.
A minor procedure under local anaesthetic that resolves painful, recurrent ingrown toenails for good. Suitability is confirmed with a vascular and medical check first.
Stubborn verrucae, tackled.
Assessment and treatment of persistent plantar warts, including Swift microwave therapy. We are honest that no single treatment is guaranteed and tailor the approach to you.
Get walking comfortably again.
Gait and biomechanical assessment for heel pain, tendon injuries and forefoot pain. A loading-led plan with footwear advice and rehab: insoles support recovery, not replace it.

About Christine Yau
Canary Wharf Podiatry, part of The Podiatry Group, is an HCPC-registered podiatry practice across 2 central London clinics: Canary Wharf (1 Westferry Circus, inside LycaHealth) and City Dock (142 Vaughan Way, Wapping). A team of 4 podiatrists, all members of the Royal College of Podiatry, covers everything from skin and nail care to nail surgery and musculoskeletal foot pain, 6 days a week.
Care is led by Clinical Director Christine Yau, who holds a degree in podiatry and a Master's degree with Distinction in Evidence-Based Health Care from the University of Oxford, where she is also a clinical researcher. That evidence-first approach runs through all 10 of our core treatments and the way we manage 12 common foot and lower-limb concerns, across 2 clinics: we are honest about what the research supports and what it does not.
You can self-refer and book directly: no GP referral needed, at either clinic, with appointments from 9am to 8pm on weekdays and until 5pm on Saturdays. From a single painful ingrown toenail to a long-standing verruca or heel pain that has lasted months, the goal is the same: an accurate diagnosis, a clear plan, and feet you can stand, walk and train on comfortably.
How It Works
Your first appointment covers a detailed history and a thorough examination of the skin, nails, circulation and, where relevant, the way you walk. We discuss our findings with you and agree a working diagnosis and treatment plan you understand before any treatment begins.
We carry out the treatment your foot problem needs: from painless skin and nail care to nail surgery under local anaesthetic, shockwave or biomechanical care, using sterile technique. Where a procedure carries material risk, we take written consent and talk you through it first.
You leave with clear written aftercare and, where needed, follow-up or redressing appointments. We reassess against your baseline and address the underlying cause: footwear, pressure or load, so the problem is less likely to return. Discharge happens by mutual agreement.
FAQ
No. Podiatrists are first-contact practitioners, so you can self-refer and book directly online or by phone. If you are using private health insurance, your provider may require a GP referral, so it is worth checking your policy before you book. Otherwise, simply choose a clinic and an appointment that suits you.
We have two London clinics: Canary Wharf, inside LycaHealth at 1 Westferry Circus, E14 4HD, and City Dock at 142 Vaughan Way, Wapping, E1W 2AF. Both are open Monday to Friday from 9am to 8pm and Saturday from 9am to 5pm, and both can be booked online.
There is no real difference: podiatry is the modern name for chiropody, and the two describe the same profession. What matters is registration: "podiatrist" and "chiropodist" are protected titles in the UK, so anyone using them must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), as our whole team is.
Yes. For painful, recurrent or infected ingrown toenails we offer nail surgery under local anaesthetic, removing the problem section of nail and usually applying phenol so it does not regrow. It is a permanent solution with a high success rate, and we confirm it is suitable for you with a medical and circulation check first.
Yes. Diabetes raises the risk of foot problems, so we provide assessment, regular professional foot care and risk checks in line with NICE guidance. Please do not self-treat corns, calluses or verrucae or use over-the-counter acid plasters, and seek same-day help for any new ulcer, wound, spreading redness or swelling.
You can book online through the booking link on this site, or contact the practice by phone or WhatsApp. If you are not sure which treatment you need, book an initial consultation and the podiatrist will assess your feet, explain the options, and agree a plan with you. No GP referral is required.
